Science Fair 2018

Autotech Council Science Fair includes over 30 demonstrations of new mobility-related technologies, projects, and beta products from Autotech Council member companies, local universities and a few select vendors.


Located in a large, open room full of science fair tables each representing 1 company and each set with demos, samples and explanations, automotive engineers, business and strategy executives and the interested public will try the demos and ask questions through the afternoon.

San Jose State University
San Jose State University Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technology Laboratory will exhibit SAE Teams competition vehicles including Formula, Electric and Mini Baja. In these competitions students design and build Formula-style race cars or off-road vehicles to compete against teams from around the world. The Autonomous Driving Team will showcase a ‘scale model’ vehicle designed to autonomously travel on campus. These projects prepare students for future employment with hands-on experience

Western Digital Automotive Grade iNAND® embedded flash drives are specifically designed to withstand the harsh environmental conditions found inside many different automotive applications. Western Digital iNAND® can be found in many models from the top 10 global auto OEMs. In this demo, the embedded flash drive is running on an automotive processor reference platform, inside a test chamber. The device is equipped with an advanced health monitoring capability. In the demo, we are displaying some of those health parameters such as current real-time temperature the device is operating, % of the memory cycling (write) capability used and a few other parameters on the device internals, while the device is simulating execution of a typical automotive application. Western Digital iNAND® embedded flash drives have a number of advanced features built in, that can help the automotive engineer design a more reliable platform.

Yazaki Innovations
We have developed electrodes for supercapacitors, made entirely of binder-free conductive single-wall carbon nanotubes, providing low internal resistance and power density up to 4300 kW/L for a monocell at 39 mF capacitance and room temperature. Our cells pass 1000 hour float tests at 2.7V and temperatures between -35°C and 70°C, and are suitable for GSM/GPRS pulse over PCMIA and memory backup applications.

All participating companies can expect the following:

  • A single 8 ft by 2.5 ft rectangular table
  • Each table equipped with power, a black table cloth and a sign with your logo
  • No Internet unless you bring your own
  • Each company and technology presented will be promoted to the Autotech Council community including OEMs, startups, investors, vendors and press
  • Tables will be set up between 10:30 am and 11:30 am and must be torn down between 4 and 5 pm
  • Science Fair is open to attendees of WAJ's Silicon Valley Reinvents the Wheel Conference and Autotech Council members from 12-4 pm
  • Description of your demos will be included in event collateral and marketing material distributed online and in print before and during the Science Fair
