Looking Beyond the Windshield (and the Steering Wheel)
We have witnessed how new technologies such as smartphones are quickly leveraged to create new products and services that were not previously predicted or even imagined. We may now be on the cusp of a mobility revolution that will similarly disrupt long-established business models and even entire industries. In a future where autonomous vehicles are not dependent on humans to pilot them through our streets and highways, the relationship between travelers, vehicles, and the commercial ecosystem of products and services will be fundamentally transformed. Carla Bailo, CEO of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, will introduce this session with an update of the latest advancements in vehicle connectivity, autonomous vehicles, and new mobility services, establishing the framework for the discussions ahead.
    9:25 AM
Fireside Chat on Innovating for Passengers
This conversation between industry insiders will focus on the possibilities that will emerge because of driverless cars and mobility as a service. Our experts and audience will discuss new commerce, apps, services, and business opportunities as well as the technologies that are needed to get us there.

    • Emmanuele Spera, CEO at Next Future Transportation inc.
    9:45 AM
    Panel: Passengers of the Future
Whether passengers are your customer, as in a mobility service like Uber, or whether they are your customer's customer like Ford, or even your customer's customer's customer like many Autotech Council members, the future of this industry will prioritize passengers over drivers. And this changes everything - from what we sell to how we sell it. This panel will share their strategic thoughts on the passengers of the future.

    Fireside Chat on Connected Passengers
The Telecom and Automotive industries have put a lot of thought into connecting cars, but how does the model change when cars are no longer owned but become a service. Our experts and audience will discuss what we might offer passengers above and beyond their current smartphone experience.

    • Hansel Monroy, Advanced Compute, Cloud, and Connectivity Research Manager at Ford Motor Company
    • Mastercard invited

Panel: Who Owns The Customer? Who even IS the customer?
For this panel, let's assume the year is 2030. A customer uses a Honda-made vehicle as part of an Uber share service. In the car, she watches Dish Network through her AT&T subscription, and controls it using Alexa. Who will own the customer relationship, and thus collect the bulk of the revenue? Who will no longer exist, and why? Who will play a supporting role. Is our passenger the target market, or is it someone else? So many questions, and so much uncertainty…yet we all must place our bets in 2020. Let's give the wheel a turn…

    • Moderator: Evangelos Simoudis, Founder & Managing Director at Synapse Partners
    • Jason Ellis, Director, Business Development at Qualcomm
    • Philipp Kandal, Sr. VP Engineering at Telenav
